These Halloween cookies are one of my favorite sets of cookies ever. My sister and I made these for my brother-in-laws office. We bought a few cutters for these cookies including this awesome spider and web set, a bat shape, and a fall leaf. We also used a castle cutter (also seen in this princess cookie post) to create a haunted mansion and made some personalized initial cookies for each of my BIL’s coworkers with a set of letter cutters that I already had on hand.
We made royal icing in piping and flooding consistencies in black, white, orange, yellow, and purple. We got the cool web effect on the spider webs by piping a black spiral in the white flood icing while it was still wet, then using a toothpick to drag lines through the icing to the points of the web, and then pressing the finished little spider cookies into the icing. We achieved the pattern on the bats and the roofs of the haunted mansion using the same technique. The spider webs were definitely the fan favorites, and also my favorite. I always love layering little cookies on big ones. Have you guys made any layered or Halloween cookies that you love?
